Fourth grade is an exciting place to be. This is the year most of our students have that first double-digit birthday. Fourth graders are fun because they can do things for themselves, but they still have that childhood innocence. It is a year when children really develop a sense of humor.
Our 4th grade Religion curriculum covers the Seven Sacraments, the Beatitudes, the Corporal Works of Mercy, and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. The students participate in the celebration of mass by acting as servers, readers, commentators, gift bearers and choir singers. Having received First Communion in third grade, they know the wonder of the Eucharist, and how to show reverence at the celebration of the mass.
All of our fourth graders know that INDIANA HISTORY IS AWESOME! We study about the geography and history of our great state, and learn that Social Studies is really an interesting subject - imagine that! Our study of Indiana History is enhanced by a field trip in the fall to Bailly Homestead at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore where we learn firsthand about the Potawatomi Indians and the FurTraders. In the spring we take an all day trip to Indianapolis to explore the Indiana State Museum and tour the State House.
In addition to Religion and Social Studies, our fourth graders enjoy learning multiplication, division, fractions, and the usual Indiana State Math curriculum, conduct Science experiments, and enjoy Reading while mastering skills that are important across the curriculum.
Fourth grade is a great place to be! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!
